City University of Hong Kong Entrance Scholarships 2021 – Grab an opportunity to study with a financial remedy in tuition fees, on-campus accommodation and living expenses applicable to international students who wish to enroll in a degree program at City University of Hong Kong for 2021-2022 academic session.

The University offers various types of entrance scholarships for non-local students admitted to full-time government-funded bachelor’s degree programmes and presented with excellent academic performances.

The University will identify high caliber students with outstanding academic and/or non-academic achievement for the entrance scholarships upon successful admission; students do not have to submit application separately. In general, most entrance scholarships are provided by Schools, Colleges and Departments, and the University also provides entrance scholarship for outstanding student athletes. Most of the entrance scholarships are renewable subject to students’continued good academic performance and the scholarship value varies. In addition, the Education Bureau offers “Scholarship for Prospective English Teachers”, to those students who will pursue a full-time degree program majoring in English; and “Scholarship for Teachers (Pursuit of Master’s Degree Programmes)”, to local teachers who have enrolled relevant part-time master’s degree programmes. Entrance Scholarships for Non-Local Students

The University offers various types of entrance scholarships for non-local students with excellent academic performance who are admitted to full-time government-funded bachelor’s degree programmes. The University will identify high caliber students for the entrance scholarships based on academic merit upon successful admission; students (applicants) do not have to submit application separately.

International Students

In 2021/22, three types of scholarships are offered to international students:

Top Scholarships of HK$180,000, covering annual tuition fees, on-campus accommodation and living expenses
Full Tuition Scholarships, covering annual tuition fees
Half Tuition Scholarships, covering half of the annual tuition fees
Diversity Grant of HK$30,000 per annum for students admitted from underrepresented nationalities except Top Scholarship recipients

For non-local student athletes, the following types of scholarships will be offered to outstanding student athletes with high sports performance standards :

Tuition

For government-funded programmes, tuition is fixed per annum.  For non-government-funded programmes, tuition is different for different programmes.

Local students: $42,100 per annum*
Non-local students: $100,000 per annum# (for students admitted in 2011-2012)
: $120,000 per annum# (for students admitted in 2013-2018)
: $140,000 per annum# (for students admitted from 2019 and thereafter)

For students pursuing a double major, any extra credits exceeding the maximum credit limit permitted will be charged on a self-financing basis.

For students pursuing a double degree, any extra credits exceeding 144 completed in the four years duration and credits taken in the 5th year of study and beyond will be charged on a self-financing basis.

*The tuition fee is subject to annual review. If there are changes to the tuition fee set by the HKSAR Government, the tuition fee may be adjusted.

Non-Government Funded Programmes
Tuition fees are charged on a credit unit basis and vary for individual programmes. You can check your tuition fees in your Account Summary in AIMS (under “My Finance” of “Student Record” tab).

Notes:
1. Students will be charged a Graduation Fee upon enrolment in a programme/degree. The Graduation Fee will be refunded to students who subsequently withdraw before graduation or whose studies are being terminated by the University.
2. Students who need to apply for leave of absence should submit their application via AIMS by the end of Week 2 in a semester/term. If the application is successful, the student will be charged a Continuation Fee to maintain an active student status at the University. Students who are required by the University to suspend from studies also need to pay a Continuation Fee during the suspension period.
3. After termination of studies by the University due to non-payment of fees, students may apply to the Academic Regulations and Records Office (ARRO) to reinstate their student status no later than the start of the examination period of the same semester/term. If the application is successful, the student will be required to pay a reinstatement charge in addition to the outstanding amount.
4. Students who do not pay the fees and charges in full by the payment due date may have their studies terminated by the University. At the discretion of the University, these students may be given a new due date to settle the original amount plus a late payment charge of 2% on the outstanding balance.
5. Enquires about payment record or other payment certification can be made to the Finance Office. Any issue relating to fees certification can be made by appointment to the Finance Office. Please note that e-receipt will be posted monthly in AIMS (under “My Finance” of “Student Record” tab) and is available for viewing for 24 months. Students are recommended to save/print the receipt for future use.

The City University of Hong Kong Entrance Scholarships are available and can be awarded to:

  • International Students (applicants) from any nationality.
  • Applicants admitted into any of the undergraduate courses offered by the University.
  • Applicants enrolled in a full-time degree programme.
  • Applicants must have a high school Certificate.
